Correcting misconceptions Muslims have about the West

Its so saddening to see how many Muslims are intellectually, morally, and religiously backwards. It appears increasingly obvious to me many anti-western Muslims tend to get their info about the West from Hollywood (i.e the sex, the scantily clad women, college parties) or Porn (which is HIGHLY viewed in Muslim countries) or by salafi sheikhs, whom already hate non-muslims and non-muslim countries.

We can't deny that many Muslims make up propaganda and lies about the West. It is their belief that since Islamic law and Islamic society isn't there, then that's the reason they're all drug users, alcoholics, murderers, rapists, and so on. Basically, any bad thing you can think of, it is believed by many Muslims that it is in full swing in Western countries. In addition to, many of the Muslims who either create or fall victim to the propaganda, hold the belief that just because someone is, say an atheist, then they are stupid and lack a moral compass and will automatically engage in rebellious behavior.

Those of us who live here will immediately know the bullshit made up by certain "Muslims" is either false, or done by marginalized groups of society. So for example, alcohol and drug usage, domestic violence, rape, murder, teen pregnancy, and theft is usually done in areas where there is high poverty, and done by people whom are rejected by society (ex: aboringals of Canada, those who ran away from abusive homes and look to these lifestyles (this group INCLUDES MUSLIMS, but no one wants to talk about them. Its a taboo to even discuss the problems they face. This is how ridiculously screwed up our communities are)).

People like Zakir Naik keep saying that Islam is the solution for the west. But the West is among the most safest, cleanest, democratic, civilized, gender neutral, and tolerant places. Meanwhile our countries are the complete opposite, AND done in the name of Islam. To many people, Islam has yet to prove to be a solution to our own Muslim countries.

BUT, because many Muslims want to create or identify with Islamic solidarity, they won't acknowledge that the West is better. They feel they are Islamically obligated to "expose" the West by throwing in all types of ills, just so they can protect this solidarity and show everyone how they're correct and everyone else is wrong.

For example, I recently wrote a post about how rape threats are used to control women. I have debated MANY people (muslims form muslim countries, and ISIS supporters) who hold this ideology, that women in the west get raped because they're independent and not "controlled". Then they try and fish out some statistics to try and prove their point, while continuing the spreading of misconceptions about women (i.e clothing, having multiple partners, etc). Again, this is done to show non-muslim societies are corrupt, and the muslim ones are successful, just to they can advance their agenda.

I have said this numerous times before, the west is the BEST place for muslims to be muslims. We see Islam without any cultural interference, and Muslim women are free. The laws protect them, and so does society. Muslim women can do whatever, wherever, and no one is going to stop them. Can this be said for our countries? No. If its not the law or the mullahs, then its society that will restrict women. Our societies are the WORST places, and admitting it means you will get chastised by other muslims for siding with the "kuffar" over the believer. Giving any credit to non muslims and non muslim governments is clearly an act of disbelief, according to those crazies.

This same screwed up ideology is the main reason why Muslim countries cannot progress in human rights, because to them its all "western".

Sorry, but people from Saudi Arabia are NOT divine

There is a lot of love for Saudi Law and Saudi scholars. Unfortunately, many Muslims follow the crap that Saudi scholars spread. Saudi Arabia and its scholars are more conservative than the early Muslims, and do a lot of things that are just not in Islam (i.e banning the 8 million things that never lead to adultery. Its funny how they are so afraid of things that never lead to adultery, and are more concentrated on that rather than fearing adultery itself).

People think everything from Saudi is 100% Islamic. So they'll always take their opinions and views. For example, sex segregation, restrictions on women, hatred of non-muslims, the love for accusing others of biddah and haraam, these are all trademarks of Saudi culture. And its saddening that these views are being forced upon non-Saudi Muslims. Non-Saudi cultures are being lost, because Saudi culture is seen as the perfect "Islamic" way of life. Those big bearded scholars, the burka clad women, the fear of women being "fitnah", these are seen as the "best" Muslims.

These Saudis and their allies (other salafis/wahabis) have caused us to think about issues and situations in vastly different ways. Before, we didn't see talking to the opposite sex as haraam. We didn't see sex segregation as something that is necessary to prevent adultery/fornication. We didn't see going to non-muslim events, or taking non-muslim friends, would make us kaffir in the future. These salafis complain and complicate things so much, we don't feel comfortable in the above situations (which were suppose to be innocent and harmless) anymore without thinking how everything will lead to zina. We don't feel comfortable without thinking our sons and daughters are up to something, because these salafi idiots have implanted such ideas into our heads.

The views of scholars seem to override the views of Muslims that reject them. On whatever issue, Saudi ulema are seen as invincible, infallible saviors of the ummah.

Lets hope Allah keeps this sick disease away from our countries, and may he get rid of the disease overall, ameen.
